How Profitable was the Tea Business in the 1800s?

Andrew Melros, the founder of Melrose Tea, operated a grocery store and was a tea dealer in Edinburgh, Scotland in the 1800s.   So, how profitable was this  business at the time?  In 1816, he had weekly sales of approximately £475.  (From the book “Feeding the Victorian City”).
