As hard as it is to believe, tea sales in the United Kingdom rose in the last year for the first time in 4 decades. An interesting story in the Scotsman Newspaper details the tea resurgence in Scotland.
Over 2/3 of UK resident drink tea every day, which amounts to over 165 million cups a day.
Head of the UK Tea Council says, “The popularity of tea is definitely back on the rise. We think tea has done really well in the recession, even though prices increased last year by about 10 per cent.”
The increased popularity is due to young women drinking more tea. Plus, traditional tea houses are resurging in popularity.
